Bengaluru, 30 August 2025:
India captain Shubman Gill has reported to the National Cricket Academy’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for a mandatory fitness test ahead of the Asia Cup, Cricbuzz reported Friday.
Gill, who also serves as India’s T20 vice-captain, is understood to have arrived in Bengaluru on Friday evening. The exact date of his fitness assessment at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) facility has not been confirmed, but the process is expected to be completed in the coming days. He is likely to travel directly to the UAE for the tournament.
The opener was recently unwell and missed the ongoing Duleep Trophy. After resting in Chandigarh, Gill resumed training at home before flying to Bengaluru.
India’s squad will assemble in Dubai on Sept. 4, with players traveling individually from their bases. The first practice session is scheduled for Sept. 5, likely at the ICC Academy.
The Asia Cup begins Sept. 9, with India opening its campaign against the UAE on Sept. 10.
