Brisbane, 8 July 2026:
The Gabba will feature prominently in Cricket Australia’s 2026-27 men’s domestic schedule, with the Brisbane venue set to host a day-night Sheffield Shield match as part of a key pink-ball round in February.
Cricket Australia on Wednesday released the full domestic schedule, designed to support a major summer of international cricket while providing players with strong performance opportunities across all states.
Full schedule is available here.
The day-night Sheffield Shield round will be played at the MCG, Adelaide Oval and the Gabba, giving players valuable exposure to pink-ball conditions ahead of the 150th Anniversary Test at the MCG.
The men’s domestic season will begin Sept. 18 with the One-Day Cup competition for the Dean Jones Trophy. New South Wales will enter as defending champion. The One-Day Cup final is scheduled for Feb. 14.
The Sheffield Shield season will start Oct. 7, with South Australia beginning its title defense. The Sheffield Shield final will commence March 25.
Each state will host home Sheffield Shield matches at its major Test venue, with Perth Stadium set to stage Shield cricket for the first time in eight years. Cricket Australia said the schedule has been closely aligned with the international calendar, including four Shield rounds before the Perth Test.
Victoria will host New South Wales at Junction Oval under lights Sept. 25, on the eve of the AFL Grand Final.
A CA XI will also face Bangladesh in a three-day match at Marrara Ground from Aug. 6-8 before the Darwin Test, while the Prime Minister’s XI will meet England in a pink-ball three-day match at Junction Oval from March 4-6, 2027.
Cricket Australia’s head of scheduling and domestic cricket Peter Roach said the schedule would provide high-quality cricket for players and fans while supporting international preparations.
“We are excited to launch another domestic season, delivering an extensive schedule of cricket across the country,” Roach said.
