The HHK Academy Kingsmen will return to Darwin for the 2026 Study NT Top End T20 Series, aiming to improve on last year’s semifinal finish after topping the ladder.
The Kingsmen won five of six regular-round matches in 2025 before their title challenge ended in the semi-finals. They return as part of the expanding Kingsmen Global Franchise Group, led by U.S.-based owner Fawad Sarwar, who established the Hyderabad Kingsmen in the Pakistan Super League and the Jamaica Kingsmen in the Caribbean Premier League.
Last year’s squad featured all-rounder Hassan Khan, former New Zealand international Scott Kuggeleijn and former Indian Premier League player Milind Kumar.
“The return of the Kingsmen is a coup for the growth and standing of the Top End T20 Series,” NT Cricket CEO Gavin Dovey said.
“Global T20 franchise cricket is a big part of what the future of the sport looks like and the Kingsmen are establishing themselves as a major player on that T20 circuit.
“We are indebted to owner Fawad Sarwar for sending the HHK Academy 15,000 kilometers to Darwin and look forward to showcasing their talents to their huge U.S. and Pakistani following.”
The tournament features 30 matches over 10 days from Aug. 20-30 at TIO Stadium, DXC Arena, Gardens Oval and Freds Pass.
Nine teams are tentatively scheduled, with each playing six regular-round matches. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, with first playing fourth and second meeting third. The grand final is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 30.
Nepal and New Zealand A have also confirmed their participation. Nepal returns after its 2025 debut attracted strong local and international support, including from Darwin’s Nepalese community.
