Bangladesh target fifth straight T20I series win as West Indies hunt for redemption in Chattogram

Chattogram, 27 October 2025:

With the one-day series done and dusted, Bangladesh clinching it 2-1 attention now shifts to the three-match T20I series beginning Monday in Chattogram. The hosts will look to extend their strong run in the shortest format, while the West Indies hope to reverse a troubling trend.

Bangladesh eye fifth straight T20I series win

Bangladesh have a chance to seal their fifth consecutive bilateral T20I series victory this week. Since July, they have beaten Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the Netherlands, and swept Afghanistan 3-0 after a disappointing Asia Cup campaign.

The core of their squad remains intact, featuring a powerful batting order and a balanced attack led by spinners Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Nasum Ahmed. With Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan rotating through the pace unit, Bangladesh will back their all-round depth to deliver again.

West Indies seek turnaround

The West Indies, in contrast, have lost seven consecutive bilateral T20I series since October last year, including a 3-0 drubbing by Bangladesh in December. Their most recent defeat — to Nepal — cost Rovman Powell the captaincy, with Shai Hope now leading the side under coach Daren Sammy’s supervision.

Sammy said his side hopes to emulate Bangladesh’s resilience, recalling how the Tigers rebounded from an ODI loss to win the T20Is on their last West Indies tour.

Teams hope for friendlier batting surfaces

After low-scoring games in Dhaka, both sides will welcome Chattogram’s more batting-friendly pitches. Litton Das returns to strengthen Bangladesh’s top order, while Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon vie for spots. In the middle order, Towhid Hridoy, Nurul Hasan and Jaker Ali will look to provide stability and late-innings punch.

For the visitors, Brandon King and Hope will anchor the top, while Alick Athanaze, Ackeem Auguste and Amir Jangoo bolster the middle. Powell and Sherfane Rutherford will handle the finishing duties.

Bowlers brace for the challenge

If pace and bounce are on offer, West Indies quicks Jayden Seales and Jason Holder could prove key. Otherwise, Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie will shoulder the spin responsibilities, with Ramon Simmonds in line for another opportunity after his promising debut in Nepal.
Bangladesh’s varied attack gives them flexibility across conditions, with offspinner Mahedi often taking the new ball and left-arm options available throughout the innings.

Pitch and conditions

Chattogram’s surfaces traditionally favor batters, though the bounce tends to stay low. Some rain is in the forecast during the week, which could influence team selection and match timings.
