Delhi, 20 September 2025:
Australia defeated India by 43 runs in a record-breaking third one-day international on Saturday to seal a 2-1 series victory.
Beth Mooney smashed a career-best 138 from 75 balls, reaching her century off just 57 deliveries — the joint second-fastest in women’s ODIs at the time. Georgia Voll rode her luck to make 81 from 68 balls, while Ellyse Perry added 68 off 72 as Australia piled up 412 in 47.5 overs, equalling their highest ODI total.
Smriti Mandhana responded with a stunning 125 from 63 deliveries, reaching her century in only 50 balls — the second-fastest in women’s ODI history. She was supported by Deepti Sharma (72) and Harmanpreet Kaur (52), but India were bowled out for 369 in 47 overs. Kim Garth led Australia’s bowling with 3-69, while Pooja Vastrakar took 3-86 for India.
The 781 runs scored at the Arun Jaitley Stadium set a new record for the highest aggregate in women’s ODIs, surpassing the 678 shared by England and South Africa in 2017. It is also the highest aggregate in women’s List A cricket, overtaking the 779 runs scored by Bengal and Haryana in 2024.
The match featured 111 boundaries — 99 fours and 12 sixes — another women’s ODI record.
Mandhana became the second batter after England’s Tammy Beaumont to hit back-to-back centuries in women’s ODIs. Only Meg Lanning has scored a faster century in the format, off 45 balls against New Zealand in 2012.
Australia have now won all 11 bilateral ODI series they have played against India, and extended their streak to nine consecutive ODI series wins since losing to England in the 2023 Women’s Ashes.
The thrilling series, which began with a dominant Australian win, saw India level in the second match before the decider turned into a run-fest. It underlined both sides’ credentials as leading contenders for the Women’s World Cup, which begins Sept. 30 in India and Sri Lanka.
