Renshaw, Wildermuth power Heat to record chase against Scorchers

Brisbane, 19 December 2025:

Matt Renshaw’s blistering century, backed by an equally destructive unbeaten hundred from Jack Wildermuth, powered Brisbane Heat to a stunning eight-wicket victory over Perth Scorchers in the sixth match of the KFC Big Bash League 15 at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Friday.

Chasing a daunting target of 258, Heat produced one of the most memorable run chases in BBL history, reaching 258 for two with one ball to spare. Renshaw struck 102 off 51 balls, smashing nine sixes and five fours, while Wildermuth remained unbeaten on 110 from 54 deliveries, including nine sixes. Max Bryant added impetus with a quick 28 before retiring hurt late in the innings as Heat sealed victory with authority.

Earlier, Perth Scorchers posted a formidable 257 for six after being sent in to bat. Finn Allen (79 off 38) and Cooper Connolly (77 off 37) laid the foundation with an aggressive second-wicket stand, while Nick Hobson’s 26 and Laurie Evans’ unbeaten 16 ensured the visitors finished strongly. For the Heat, Xavier Bartlett claimed two wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jack Wildermuth picked up one apiece.
