Oman, 16 October 2025:
Nepal and Oman have secured their places in the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, clinching qualification even before their Super Six meeting in the Asia-EAP Qualifier. One more team from the tournament will join them at next year’s event.
Their qualification was confirmed after the United Arab Emirates defeated Samoa by 77 runs earlier Wednesday. The result left UAE third in the Super Six standings with four points, while Nepal and Oman sit atop the table, separated only by net run rate.
UAE will face Japan in a must-win game on October 16 to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Wristspinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been instrumental in Nepal’s success, claiming 10 wickets in four innings at an average of 9.40 and an economy rate below six. His 5-18 helped Nepal bowl out Qatar for 142 while defending 148.
For Oman, left-arm seamer Jiten Ramanandi has been among the tournament’s top performers, taking seven wickets in four matches at an economy of 5.90. Ramanandi had also impressed during the Asia Cup earlier this year, dismissing India’s Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma.
