Manchester, 11 August 2026:

Sunrisers Leeds booked their place in the knockout stages of The Hundred with a win over Manchester Super Giants (MSG) in Manchester after an all-round masterclass from Annabel Sutherland.

The result knocked out MSG who fell 41 runs short in their chase after the Sunrisers put an imposing total of 166 on the board.

It was the Aussie duo of Phoebe Litchfield and Sutherland who did the heavy lifting in the first innings, with Litchfield continuing her form as she dominated the powerplay with 27 off 12.

The supporting cast of Bryony Smith, Lauren Winfield-Hill and Dani Gibson all contributed with the bat but it was the explosive hitting of Sutherland who turned a manageable target into one that proved far too much for MSG.

Sutherland scored 62 off 36 including three sixes in a row to finish off Ryana MacDonald-Gay whose 15 balls went for 43 runs.

Kathryn Bryce was the only bowler left unscathed for MSG as the others struggled for consistency on a pitch that favoured the bat.

MSG got off to a strong start as Smriti Mandhana and Grace Scrivens scored freely. They reached 42-0 before Mandhana was bowled by Jess Jonassen for 28.

That brought in fellow Indian Richa Ghosh to the crease but the bowling of Jonassen and Sutherland stopped the pair in their tracks.

Scrivens and Ghosh fell within three balls of each other leaving MSG 77-3 after 56 balls. When Bryce was forced to retire after scoring 15 off 14 MSG required 69 off 25 which they simply didn’t have the firepower for.

Jonassen and Sutherland continued to bowl beautifully and finished with a combined 5-38 off 40 deliveries. Deepti Sharma also contributed with the ball and finished with figures of 2-21 from 15 after removing Mady Villiers and Maitlan Brown.

It was a very well-rounded performance from Sunrisers who will fancy their chances against the Brave in Friday’s Eliminator, given the form of the key players for the Leeds side.

For MSG, a disappointing end to the season but plenty of positives to take.
