Pakistan, South Africa set for three-match T20I series in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi, 27 October 2025:

Pakistan and South Africa will square off in a three-match Twenty20 international series beginning Tuesday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The next two games are scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The toss for all three matches will be held at 7:30 p.m., with play starting at 8 p.m. local time. The T20I series will be followed by three one-day internationals at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Nov. 4, 6 and 8.

The teams recently concluded a two-match Test series, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 which ended 1-1. Pakistan claimed the opening Test in Lahore by 93 runs before South Africa leveled the series with an eight-wicket win in Rawalpindi.

In T20Is, Pakistan and South Africa have faced each other 24 times, each winning 12 games. Of the three T20Is played in Pakistan, the hosts have won two and the visitors one.

Babar, who has played 128 T20Is, is eight runs short of becoming the world’s leading run-scorer in the format.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said his side was confident heading into the series.

“We have an exciting mix of experienced players and new faces,” Salman told PCB Digital. “We had a great home series against Bangladesh and hope to continue that momentum. South Africa are a quality side, but we believe in our plans and ability to beat any team.”

South Africa captain Donovan Ferreira said he was honoured to lead his country and expected a tough challenge.

“Captaining South Africa is a massive honour,” Ferreira said. “Pakistan are strong at home and know the conditions well. It’s important for us to adapt quickly, focus on our skills and execute our plans. We’ve got an explosive batting lineup and a balanced attack, so it should be an exciting contest.”

Pakistan will wear special pink-themed kits in the opening T20I as part of the PCB’s partnership with Pink Ribbon Pakistan to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Fans in Pakistan can watch the matches live in HD on A Sports and Ten Sports, with streaming available on Tapmad and Tamasha. International coverage will include Willow TV (North America), SuperSport (sub-Saharan Africa), Dialog TV (Sri Lanka), T Sports (Bangladesh) and Cricbuzz (Middle East and North Africa).
