Taskin, Litton star as Bangladesh thrash Netherlands in T20I opener

Sylhet, August 30, 2025:

Bangladesh opened their T20I series against the Netherlands with a commanding eight-wicket victory on Friday, chasing 137 with 6.3 overs to spare.

Taskin Ahmed spearheaded the win with a fiery four-wicket burst that wrecked the Dutch top order. Litton Das then anchored the chase with a fluent unbeaten 54, while Saif Hassan chipped in with two wickets and a brisk 36 not out to seal the result.

Put in to bat, the Netherlands started brightly through Max O’Dowd, who struck three fours and a six in his 23 before falling to Taskin. That dismissal triggered a collapse. Taskin also removed Vikramjit Singh, while Saif dismissed skipper Scott Edwards and Teja Nidamanuru in quick succession. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin cleaned up the middle and lower order, leaving the visitors at 136 for 8 despite late resistance from Aryan Dutt and Tim Pringle.

Bangladesh replied in aggressive fashion. Parvez Hossain Emon smashed two fours and a six in the opening over and made 29 before Litton took charge. Batting with authority, the wicketkeeper-batter raced to a 26-ball half-century. Hassan finished the job in style, clearing the ropes three times in his unbeaten cameo.

The hosts now lead the three-match series 1-0.
