Chattogram, 30 October 2025:
West Indies held their nerve in the closing stages to beat Bangladesh by 14 runs in the second T20 international on Wednesday, clinching the three-match series 2–0 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Set a target of 150, Bangladesh managed 135 for 8 despite a fluent half-century from Tanzid Hasan, as Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd shared six wickets to guide the visitors to victory.
Earlier, Alick Athanaze (52 off 33) and captain Shai Hope (55 off 36) powered West Indies to 149 for 9 after they were sent in to bat. The pair added 105 runs for the second wicket, giving the innings a strong base before a middle-order collapse saw the visitors lose seven wickets for just 43 runs.
Bangladesh’s bowlers fought back impressively through Mustafizur Rahman (3 for 21) and Nasum Ahmed (2 for 35), restricting the scoring rate in the final overs after Hope and Athanaze’s dismissals in quick succession.
In reply, Bangladesh stumbled early when Saif Hassan and Litton Das departed inside the powerplay. Tanzid Hasan anchored the chase with a composed 61 off 48 balls, hitting three sixes and three fours, but found little support from the middle order as West Indies’ spinners and seamers kept control.
Romario Shepherd (3 for 29) broke the back of Bangladesh’s chase, while Akeal Hosein (3 for 22) finished off the lower order. Jason Holder (2 for 20) provided key breakthroughs with the new ball, including the wicket of Saif Hassan.
The win sealed an unassailable lead for West Indies, who had also won the opening match earlier this week.
The third and final T20I will be played on Friday, with Bangladesh seeking a consolation victory.
