Lahore, 13 October 2025:
Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha narrowly missed out on his fourth Test century – the first at iconic Gaddafi Stadium as he was dismissed for 93 on the second day of the opening Test against South Africa before lunch on Monday.
The Pakistan T20I captain, who has struggled for form with the bat in recent outings, looked composed and determined during his stay at the crease. His innings, featuring five fours and three sixes, helped Pakistan recover from early setbacks as he shared a crucial 163-run stand for the sixth wicket with wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who also fell short of a century, scoring 75.
Salman’s return to red-ball form comes after a lean patch in white-ball cricket. In the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup held in the UAE, he managed only 72 runs from seven matches. Following the tournament, he turned out for Lahore Whites in the opening round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he scored 47 runs in a drawn match against Islamabad Region.
His composed knock in Lahore not only steadied Pakistan’s innings but also marked a promising sign of resurgence for the all-rounder, who continues to balance his leadership role in T20Is with his red-ball responsibilities.
