Nitish Kumar Reddy makes ODI debut in Perth, continues rise as India’s promising all-rounder

Perth, 19 October 2025:

India’s rising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy marked another milestone in his young career on Sunday, making his ODI debut against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, the same venue where he earned his Test cap less than a year ago.

The 22-year-old from Andhra Pradesh has enjoyed a rapid ascent through India’s cricketing ranks. After making his Test debut against Australia in November 2024, Reddy has since played nine Tests, scoring 386 runs at an average of 29.69, including a fluent 114, his maiden century. Known for his composed batting and handy seam bowling, he has also taken eight wickets in the format.

Reddy’s balanced skill set has made him one of India’s most promising all-round prospects. In limited-overs cricket, he has been equally impressive. Across 22 List-A games, Reddy has scored 403 runs at an average of 36.63, with four half-centuries and a best of 60 not out. His strike rate of 95.27 underlines his ability to accelerate through the middle overs, while his medium pace adds depth to India’s bowling options.

In T20Is, Reddy has already shown glimpses of his potential, averaging 45.00 with the bat and taking three wickets in four outings.

His ODI debut continues a remarkable journey that began in India’s domestic circuit and gained global attention through consistent performances in franchise cricket. As current Champions of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India look to build depth ahead of 2027 Men’s World Cup, Reddy’s all-round value could make him a key player in the team’s long-term plans.
