Jordan’s four-for sets up Hurricanes’ easy win over Renegades

Geelong, 21 December 2025:

Chris Jordan’s four-wicket haul set up a comfortable seven-wicket victory for Hobart Hurricanes over Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League on Sunday.

Jordan returned figures of 4 for 19 as the Hurricanes restricted the Renegades to 145 for nine at GMHBA Stadium after opting to field first. The English pacer struck at key moments, removing Tim Seifert, Hassan Khan, Will Sutherland and Fergus O’Neill to halt Renegades’ momentum.

The Renegades lost Josh Brown for a duck early and never fully recovered. Seifert top-scored with 34, while Mohammad Rizwan added 32, but regular wickets prevented any substantial partnerships. Hassan Khan’s brisk 23 offered late resistance before Jordan wrapped up the tail. Nathan Ellis also chipped in with two wickets.

In reply, Hobart Hurricanes made light work of the chase, reaching 149 for three in just 13.5 overs. Nikhil Chaudhary anchored the innings with an explosive 79 off 38 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes, and putting the result beyond doubt well before the final overs.

Ben McDermott provided solid support with an unbeaten 49 from 33 deliveries, while Tim David finished the chase with a six as the Hurricanes surged to the top of the standings.

Jordan was named Player of the Match for his decisive spell as Hobart claimed their second win of the season.
